The graph and table show the number of fishermen in different regions in terms of millions from 1970 to 2000 and the world’s top ten fish exporting countries in 2000.
In the graph we could see that the number of fishermen varies. For starters, it tells us that Asia’s fishermen went up by 4 million in the first 10 years but then doubled in the next 20 years. On the other hand in Africa their numbers dropped to 2.5 million. However, the number of fishermen remained steady during the period of thirty years. North America however, witnessed a great increase in fishermen by exactly triple what it was and then leveled off at between 1980 and 2000. Finally, looking at Europe, we can see that the number fluctuated from 12 million to 7 million and then back the same from 1970 to 1980, 1980 to 2000.
The table illustrates the top ten exporters of fish and the one on top is Thailand, an Asian country. The second fish exporter is Norway from Europe. In contrast, Indonesia and South Korea in Asia are the last in the top ten exporters list.
In conclusion, the number of fishermen varied in numbers in almost all regions, and while Asia had the highest fishermen numbers, it took 5 ranks of the top ten list of fish exporters.
